Problem with Samsung DVD writer

Hi guyz, I've problem with my Samsung DVD writer SH-S203D, whenever I try to
burn blank DVD-R discs into it, it recognize them as DVD-RW and hence just
before actual burning process, it starts formatting th DVD-R disc and eventually
end up giving error & burn process failed message and eject the disc ,, this is
happening since last week but it still can read and copy the data in disc but NO
writing at all ..plz help ... thanx in advance...!!

P.S-- I'm using win and linux as dual boot and tried to write discs in both OS
but same problem exists in both places since last week.

There are some suggestions to you which are recommended in such situations:

1. Install latest drivers for your Samsung SH-S203D DVD writer
2. Make sure you have the latest software version for writing on your DVD.
3. What are you trying to write on the disk? What is the size of the file? Make sure it fits the max limit of the disk.
4. Also look at the connection of the DVD writer
