I think you are not going to get too much difference because of cache size and drives. When you are havine 150Gb the i will suggest you not to upgrade it. The hard drive speed make difference in loading of program, which is not a big issue it will not cause you to have a slow frame rate.As you are building a gaming system, but beyound loading time the HDD will not make a difference in game. You should get a faster system if you can spent money on as fast of RAM.

upgrading to E8400 and the 4GB running dual-channel would make up a huge improvement in performance. And by overclocking the 8400 by 10% you will have good gaming machine. Even i am having E8400 for six month and really it is a good CPU for most things. The game i play with max/high setting as possible. The video card will have more effect on game speed. |

When you are having high HDD storage space you will notice more cache. cache is like buffer which store temporarily info and makes it fast to move between your hdd and system. Going from 150Gb 7200rpm, 8mb cache will be same as 750GB 7200rpm, 32mb cache drive. The is no too much improvement seen in the performance. It is better to have video card than changing the disk cache. This will have more effect on game speed.

It basically depend on the manufacturer of the hard drive. I think western Digital caching system is superior to any one else’s. I will have 16MB WD than a 32MB from any other generic company. The cache effect on performance is likely to be very small. Your system will be able to cache a lot more than disk cache can store. Your system will have good performance, it will play almost all game. |
