Mouse stopped working correctly after VMware tools were installed

I have recently installed VMware on my Windows XP computer. It was working normally until I installed VMWare on this computer but since the installation I am unable to use my USB mouse. It stopped working all of a sudden. The worst part is that it works absolutely fine in Ubuntu which is in dual boot with Windows XP on this computer. Can you help me how to solve this problem?

This is very common problem which appears after installation of VMware tools. So to solve this problem, go to Device Manager and uninstall the mouse drivers if there any exists. Later on manually install the latest mouse drivers from the manufacturing website. Now test your mouse once again to see if this works.

This problem occurs because VMware Tools tries to install new mouse drivers which conflicts with the existing one and thus the problem. So disable this feature and you will not be having this problem any more.

    1. Launch Fusion.
    2. Go to Virtual Machine > Install VMware Tools.
    3. Select Custom Installation.
    4. Deselect Mouse Driver from VMware device drivers.
    5. Follow the screen for installation.
    6. Reboot the virtual machine.

This has nothing to do with the mouse drivers but in fact its the problem of hardware settings. So to resolve the problem, go to Display Properties - Advanced Setting - Troubleshoot and just reduce the hardware acceleration by one point. This will help you and your mouse should work like a champ.
