    Want to upgrade dell OPTIPLEX GX280 CPU

    Hi,
    I want to upgrade my dell laptop optiplexgx280 laptop With the 3.x ghz HT socket 775 /1m/800 (SL7J9) cpu and the mother board would be foxconn Ls-36.Currently i am having the intel p4 2.8ghz m/L2/800 (SL7PR) CPU with me.
    Suggest me some method if i can do so.

    I think that You will not will able to Do this up-gradation ,because your motherboard is a socket 478 and You can insert any 478 socket processor without any problem, but if you will try the 3.6 ghz HT then socket 775 would not be compatible.So you try out some other configuration which can be upgraded easily and will not have any compatibility problem.

    According to my Knowledge You can use the 3.4 775 socket #650 CPU with your GX280 CPU .Below i am providing the specifications which you can make in your CPU-
    1-Model: Intel Pentium 4 650 w/ Hyper Threading.
    2-Operating Frequency: 3.4 GHz.
    3-front side bus:8000Mz.
    4-Cache: L1/12K+16K
    5-Product Code: BX80547PG3400F
    6-Socket: LGA 775.

    According to my Knowledge about the computers the 560 was the processors that was originally available with the GX280.I also agree with the saying of Itronix that the 650 is the better option for you .I know it is fractionally lower than 2Ghz CPU speed ,But it has the cache of about 2MB and also has a Enhanced Intel Speed Step Technology and it also provide support for 64 bit OS.Try this out,it would be really helpful.

    I have tried out you configuration of socket 650 and all other provided by Itronix.I have upgraded my CPU with the specification provided by the Itronix.Now the performance of my PC has increased and it is also working with a good speed .I am able to do my Work more easily and it is also not having any problem related to the compatibility.I thank you for this advice
