    Information about Corsair Obsidian 800D

I am the new member on this community and I have started loving the members, since they provide with very helpful information. Now I am here to know about the Corsair Obsidian 800D. My cousin is having it, and she is not knowing much about it. So I thought that posting here will help me (and her). Let me tell you frankly, that I have also visited other forums, but I have not got any information about this in description. So I thought that you members can help me by providing some useful stuff.

Re: Information about Corsair Obsidian 800D

As a manufacturer of computer hardware and peripherals are Corsair has made in recent years, a good name. The Obsidian 800D is now to be done the first step in the housing sector. And Corsair starts directly with a giant at the start. The obsidian is in the truest sense of the word huge, and leaves before unpacking a lasting impression. The facilities include a separate area for the power supply, a large viewing window, a hard disk removable frame and next to massive interior space and the possibility of all seven fans 120-140 mm to obstruct. Whether the "appearance" of this BigTower keeps its promises, we will try out in our today's test found. At this point, our thanks for providing the samples to the manufacturer Corsair.

After opening the package, the first impression is huge! All sensitive areas are spacious with a protective film stuck, so the buyer is initially forced, in part, painstaking work of both the front and the side window of the slide free. As the front to be dismantled to remove the slide in the rule must fall directly that this, unlike in most cases, is completely filled. Will say that behind the facade not to be found about 20 mm air gap but a completely covered. Practical way can the front after a strong emotional train without loosening screws separate from the chassis. At the top sits, hidden behind a flap, the port kit together openly accessible power switch and a white LED to show drive activity. Among them are the five 5.25 "drive bays, which are covered with blinds open and the inside of a combination of plastic and aluminum. The lower part is the hard drive mobile rack mounted behind a flap, which up to four 3.5" can accommodate hard drives as "hot-swap platform".

Cover and side panels were held by Corsair very simple. The former is characterized only by preparing for an internal water cooling. For the Obsidian offers a spacious area 800D of perforated sheet metal in order to secure a maximum of triple-radiator. The side panels look very solid and while the left side still hosts the large window, is located in the right hand side not only opening or stopping. Especially, however, the mechanism to separate the sides of the chassis. This is done via a small button on the back. If this is pressed, can both sides work out and eventually pull out of its bracket at the bottom of the housing.

On the rear wall is visible first one: a solid from top to bottom area, which consists of perforated sheet metal. This suggests that sufficient space behind the motherboard tray is available, to lay all the necessary cables, without trainees bulge while the right side. In addition to the two push buttons to open the side walls are also two hose bushings for operating an external water cooling, a 140-mm fan, the typical arrangement for common ATX formats and, with some distance down the hole for the adapter to the back.

In terms of processing leaves the first housing Corsair no desires. The rest of the interior impresses with a maximum of comfort in the form of the large number of cable ducts in the motherboard tray. Adapted to the three Boards, formats that can be installed in the Obsidian 800D, are each positioned around the main board rubber bushings, so that no cables disrupt the air flow in the interior or the optics. The front area is mainly formed by the aforementioned hard drive mobile rack. The necessary connections are concealed by a black cover, another cover hiding the 140-mm fan, which supplies the sensitive storage media with enough air.

Course offers the Corsair Obsidian 800D one in abundance: the place. Granted, in a big tower block to a hardware package based on a space-saving micro-ATX motherboard, is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut , and the installation design is very straightforward. But even more components could easily place. Especially the length of all cable convinced the Obsidian 800D - from the fan cables on the port attached to the kits to extend the processor power cable. Although the scope of supply in terms of accessories is spacious, but leaves the amount to be desired strongly to fans. We had a case in the price range expected by 250 €, that all fans that can be built, are also included in the package. But only three out of a maximum possible seven fans shall Corsair at the first offspring. These are also installed in places where they do not provide in our opinion, much cooling power.

Re: Information about Corsair Obsidian 800D

Looking at the main design feature - space - and it looks back on how much air is in addition to our built-9800GTX + is still present, it quickly became clear that Obsidian is taking the lead 800D unchallenged position in the space available for graphics cards. In fact beats the Corsair housing all that other housing offered so far by miles. With generous 36.5 cm square Corsair seems not only to the next generation of high-end graphics cards to plan, but also beyond it. Already in operation at twelve volts, the 140-mm fans only turn about 600 rpm. They give a slight hum and minimal grinding of the bearings of what is perceptible even in half a meter away slightly. In the five-volt operating our sound level meter consistently showed values below 30 dB, so that one can speak both subjectively and objectively by silence.

The fans turn then only with a few turns and carrying virtually no more air through the housing. Positive is to take along so that Corsair captured the ears of the buyer, the Obsidian 800D at twelve volts is quieter than most other housing at five volts. The measurements of the system temperature is then but a sometimes fatal outcome. Especially in our processor, we can see the performance of our volunteers is always very good, as it is passively cooled. Of power can the Obsidian 800D but unfortunately no longer be spoken, for 90°C loaded this case our processor up to the temperature limit. Even with changing the voltage from five to twelve volts, the temperature change only slightly. Thus, confirms our suspicion that the fan was unfortunately not very well thought out concept and included clearly too few fans are.

Among the positive features of the case, many features are to be counted to support the user in daily use. Among the highlights are next to the disk removable frame and the separate power supply separately at the bottom of the housing already in the twelve volts extremely quiet fans or the general structure of the chassis. Owner of a water cooling with this enclosure are completely on their costs and can easily integrate into the obsidian 800D. The viewing window in the left side provides a deep insight into the interior, the massive space holds ready to block current and future hardware. With the sophisticated cable management system ensures Corsair that in any situation always prevails order.

However, although the delivery fails quite generous, it would have been in our opinion, more desirable to settle one or two additional fans - the cooling capacity from the factory (despite or perhaps because) of the outstanding sounds extremely bad. With the concept in the delivery state piles up the heat in the housing and the safe operation of a passively cooled processor is nearly impossible. The combination of space without end, many interesting details, the flaws identified and a price of 200 € at the end, unfortunately, not sufficient for a recommendation of the editors.
