You need to check the connectors Power SW , Reset SW , HDD LED , etc., who come from the box in short, are properly connected to the motherboard. As reference , the back of each of these connectors you will find a small triangle that indicates which wire is the most . In the doc you based on your motherboard, check that there is no error or reverse polarity ( polarity reversal once during editing gave me the same result as you with big sweat at the key). Then, keeping only the CM , memory and processor.

The HFX mini is compatible with motherboards in ATX and Micro - ATX , it can accommodate three expansion cards in a standard format (requires the use of " riser cards " provided as an option ). It has 3 locations internal 3.5 " and 1 pitch 5.25 " slim player . It is necessary to use external power for this case. This box is available with Home Cinema accessories many options to customize your Media Center PC for your needs and desires. The layout of housing, its design and its options allow greater dissipation and maximum absorption of vibration , mainly using dampers and " silent box " rubber.

It's nice to see that you know a HTPC = a minimum budget .
    Several things :
    1) What is the sound installation of your pal ?
    2) If you want some quiet, it means the cold, so forget the HD 4850-4870 . Take the side rather lighter ATI or Nvidia (see the article on temperature GC has already been posted several times) .
    3) Recall your buddy has it that the remote is infrared, so he must direct his cabinet to make it easy to target from the couch .

I am agree that a HTPC worthy of the name must be as quiet as possible. The use of a DSS drive system provides increased performance and silence. Its use allows to store its data on a 5400 rpm drive that can virtually inaudible to Also, be suspended by the system when not requested. Corsair sent us a P64 which, as its name suggests , has a capacity of 64 GB is based on Samsung's second generation controller and with a cache of 128 MB It boasts a speed reading 220 Mb / s and 120Mo / s in writing and is compatible with the trim . Her hull aluminum gives it a nice finish.
