    FreeNAS increasing storage problem

I a using FreeNAS that is a Live CD (install on USB drive or hard drive) transforming a simple personal computer (PC) network file server (equivalent to a hard drive Ethernet). As usual there is nothing complicated, because each time leaving the default it works correctly, i just need to know which services to activate and know how to manage disks. I want to increase my disk storage . Please help.

you want to install everything on the hard disk by partitioning the drive into 2 parts, a first 128Mb of the system and the rest for data. The index used is 3 but I repeat, this is only an example. The next screen displays the CDROM he found and informed of his name (the first few characters of the line) here "acd0". Attention is qwerty keyboard . Same principle for the hard disk or the name is in this example da0. One can notice the other two disk drives to be detected RAID 1 in the end.

You need to go on to Disks> Mount Point. Add a mount point in the first page. The mount point type is disk, with disk in the RAID array (ArrayRaid1) in EFI GPT partition (software RAID) in UFS filesystem and PtMnt1 for the share name. OK, then confirm with Add applying the changes. The status of the mount point must be "OK" if everything goes well. ave the changes. Go now in the same part on the sharing tab and then use the button to add a share.

The NAS for Network Attached Storage is a storage device connected to a network. It is a server dedicated to storage, with features optimized data management, which seamlessly integrate with a TCP / IP network. The NAS is designed to provide all users, regardless of their working environment, centralized resource records. NAS servers can therefore provide collaboration capabilities between platforms.

The most often presented in its 'rack' (to position in a cabinet 19), the type of NAS as "simple" contains IDE hard drives (4 for the base of varying size) and is equipped with one or two network interfaces (RJ-45). It is sufficient to power the NAS to connect to the LAN, to give it a static IP address to make it operational. A web interface allows the network administrator to create network shares are accessible by users and servers with the permissions on the file system.

You can now configure permissions and ownership on each folder. Orders will be useful chown and chmod. We will use ls-l to list the items with their respective rights in the current directory. The commands are typed in SSH (do not forget to enable SSH in the list of services). For the directory adrien adrien is the owner and owner group wheel. It is therefore a "chown-R adrien: wheel adrien /".
