Adding raid 0 (2 new hdds) on an existing non-raid Win7-64

    Hi,

I have Win7-64 installed on a non-raid 1TB hdd. Everything went smoth until i decided to add 2 new hdds (2x1.5TB) in RAID 0. Windows couldnt start.

My hardware listed in the signature below

This is what i did when i added the new hdds:
    1. Changed hdd configuration in BIOS to RAID
    2. Created RAID 0 with the 2 new hdds and keep the 1 with OS on as non-raid

Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed with the problem? I dont want to move the OS to the new RAID array or reinstall the OS.

I also tried to use window repair with the backup image i had, but seem to me window couldnt find the "old" hdd.

Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling the OS?

    thx

I assume that you will have to download the most up-to-date drivers from the motherboard manufacturer, then load them on a flash drive and try to get Windows 7 to detect the RAID once you load up the drivers. You just need to plug the sata connectors into any slot really, i use 3 and 4 and set HDD type from IDE to RAID. Then press Ctrl+I i believe when it prompts you to and create a RAID volume there.

    Thank for the response.
I also found a post in the ASUS P5Q board, and they said that official it wont work unless you do some tweaking. But i dont think i m capable of doing that. So i suppose i gonna reinstall the OS.

    Thanks!

I think that a good start would be to read from below links:

    http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/
    http://www.intel.com/support/chipset.../CS-020681.htm

Then download the drivers and install your OS on a RAID0 by following Intel's instructions.

Note that the "Del" key is used for your motherboard to enter the BIOS
