Audio playback through headphones and speakers

I am having the Dual boot on my system which has a windows 7 as well as Windows XP. Actually before this windows 7, I was having windows vista along with the XP when i was able to hear my headphones as well as speakers. But this does not seems to be happening with windows 7 dual boot. Now i am not able to play the music in both of these speakers as well as in headphones so that i can play any of them when i want. I used to switch off the speakers when i want to only hear from the headphones. But windows 7 makes me doing several settings.

When your operating system does not have a proper sound drivers on your system then it does no works. I guess your hardware wont be having a driver needed by the Windows 7. I suggest you to get the windows updates on your system which must be offering you to download the latest drivers so that you can use all the automatic functions of the Windows 7.

I would like to make small changes in the Volume settings on your windows operating system. Actually if you have selected the connected headphones as a the default *Communication* device then it wont be possible to use speaker as well as headphones at the same time. You have to select headphones as the default device.

I think you need to make bit changes in the Volume setting which will enable you to hear the headphones as well as speaker system on your windows 7 os. I suggest you to do the following settings on your system.
    1. Right Click on the Speaker icon displayed on the taskbar and then select volume control options.
    2. You have to make a check for "All devices currently playing sound".
    3. Please note that the "The default communication device unchecked".
    4. Now check for both speakers as well as headphones.

I have given you the trick to solve your problem.
    1. Right click on the speaker icon located at the taskbar and then select "Recording Devices".
    2. Right click on the blank space and then make sure that the "show disabled devices" AND "show disconnected devices" both are selected.
    3. Click on the Properties and then switch to the Listen Tab.
    4. Select the "Listen to this device" and "Playback through this device" from the drop box.
