I am not really able to understand your query. Can you please explain the same in more details. Do you want to use a extra cpu with you as a storage media or you want to join that to your existing system. If you want to use that a storage media then only the hard drives in that are possible to use with a help of a hard drive enclosure.
My intension is to connect the old CPU to the new PCs usb port and transfer the files from old one to the new pc. Also can I use the old cpu as a external storage drive. Hope you got my points.
If both the old pc and new pc are close to each other (less than 6ft.) then a crossover cable could do the same. But sharing cd-rom drive, or printer may post a different issue though (I seem to remember that was the case with me). Or you can connect two computers with a router, just make sure that the IP Address should be same Class or Range.
