In the system setup you can try clearing the 'Event Log' and see if that makes any difference or solves the problem.

    do this --
    • Restart the system. As the Blue Dell logo appears, press the F2 key. The system setup screen will appear.
    • On the System setup screen, goto the "Maintenance" option and press Enter.
    • You will find an option called "Event Log". Select "Event Log" and press enter.
    • Then, select an option “Clear Log”.
    • Next, select the option “load defaults” and select “Continue”.
    • After that press the "ESC" button and finally select an option -- "SAVE/EXIT".

One of the ways to resolve this is to reseat the fan connection to the motherboard.

Here is how you can Reseat,
    - Power off the PC
    - Open the case
    - Disconnect the fan connection to the motherboard
    - Reconnect the fan
note - make sure it is fully and correctly reinstalled.

Now, Power ON the PC again and check whether you still get the fan failure notice or not. If not, then the problem has been resolved...

Check whether - the CPU fan is on the right connector on the motherboard ?
The BIOS may be looking at the sysfan speed rather than the cpufan speed sensors, if you have more than one fan connector available.
