Hi,
I had been using a RAID 0 configuration with 2 500GB WD HDDs. All of a sudden I got a crash and when I tried to start my windows 7 64 bit back up, the windows auto-repair utility couldn't fix it to start it up. After a lot of trouble shooting I decided to just blank the drives and attempt to re-format. I deleted the RAID configuration as well as the HDDs themselves. However, windows 7 would not format them. I can delete / create new partitions, however they will not format.
I tried to use an ubuntu disc and it crashes before I can get a chance to even get to the disc format utility. I've since removed both drives and used an older one that was old but working. It gave me the same problems of unable to format/ubuntu crashing.
Has anyone heard of anything like this before? This is very strange to me and I'm about out of options. I would appreciate any advice/ideas.
PS I've ran memtest86 and the windows memory tests a bunch of times and they all came out ok. I'm really confused as to whats going on.
theyre also SATA drives so jumpers on the hdd are not an issue
Thanks a lot,
- AP
