Have you done a PRAM reset? A lot of problems which are related to the Mac Systems are solved by doing a PRAM reset. Follow the steps below to do a PRAM reset :-

Check the battery on the logic board. The battery on the logic board helps the system to save all the information required for booting. Open the Mac Pro and then remove the battery from the logic board. Check the voltage of the battery using a multimeter. Replace the battery if the voltage of the battery is less than 3 volts. After replacing the battery, see if the system is booting or not. |

According to me the power supply unit of the computer is having some problems due to which this kind of problem is encountered. The power supply unit must not be able to provide correct voltage levels to all the devices and hence the display is not getting fired. Get the power supply unit checked by some expert and replace it if it is found faulty. |

The logic board of the Mac PRo is faulty and hence you are not able to get the computer to work properly. The logic board of the Mac systems controls all the functions which are carried out by the system. All the devices are connected to the logic board of the system. Hence if the logic board is faulty such problems will be faced. Get the logic board checked and replaced if found faulty. |

SMC in the new intel powered Macbooks controls all the lower level functions of the Macbook. Sometimes the SMC gets stuck while performing some action which might create such problem. Hence to reset the SMC of the Macbook, you will have to shut down the Macbook and remove the battery. Press and hold power button for about 30 seconds. Replace the battery and boot the system. |

| Re: Mac Pro CD Drive Clicking Issue
As suggested I got the SMC and the PRAM of the Mac Pro reseted. After resetting, the clicking of the CD drive stopped for sometime but then started again. I think there is some hardware failure involved in this issue and hence will take the Mac Pro to the nearest Apple service center and get it checked. Thanks for replying to the thread. |
