conexant high definition audio-microphone problem

I have a gateway laptop with vista home premium service pack 2, 64-bit operating system on it.

for a while, the conexant high definition audio-microphone for my built in webcam worked, until earlier this year. I fiddled with the settings and managed to get it to work, but it went back to not working again soon after and I couldn't fix it this time. Is there anything I can download from windows or gateway that will fix the problem?

As you have changed some settings on the laptop, I will suggest that you try and repair the Windows installation on the laptop which will restore all the faults which are there in the operating system. You can use the restore disk if available or you can directly use the Windows repair wizard from the Windows installation disk.

You can make it work if the device is properly installed in your computer. Like the Conexant high definition audio-microphone need proper audio driver support on the system. Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager and in the list right click on the device and choose for driver update. Or else go on conexant.com and download the drivers manually.
