GeForce 9800GX2 110°C is it normal?

Hello i have seen that my GPU's temperature is bit upper i think, Actually i do not have any ideas that is it harming my computer or not as i have not seen any odd effects on my computer even while playing the games such as F.E.A.R. 2. I have recently checked my GPU's temperature and it was at 110°C and it shows 70 to 80 degrees when i do not play games. Is it normal that GPU has such high temperature?

Actually i can not give you the normal temperature for your GPU as you have not provided the specifications of your computer system such as which processor you have and which fan you are using to control the temperature of your GPU. Actually the truth is that there different kind of CPU's in market out of which some are said to be good as much as their temperature goes higher where it could be exactly opposite for some as well. So i just can not say that is it normal to have 110°C temperature but i can inform you that the for those cpu's which works better on higher temperature do have 110°C as their normal temperature.

According to me there is nothing like normal temperature range as there would be different ranges depending on the combination of graphic card and processors. Video cards are rated to bear up to 100 - 120c but it would be better if your card does not touch this limit. I think if your ideal temperature is about 70-80 then it would be normal to go up to 110 after playing high graphics games. But still i think that you need another fan.

Here i have provided the ranges of the CPU temperatures according to which you can see the range of your CPU's temperature.
    1. Pentium III Socket 370 and Slot 1, 933MHz - 75°C
    2. Celeron 266-433MHz - 85°C (max. CPU case temperature)
    3. Celeron 533-600MHz ('Coppermine) - 90°C
    4. Celeron 466-533MHz (0.25µ) - 70°C (max. CPU case temperature)
    5. Pentium II (1st generation, 'Klamath') - 72-75°C depending on MHz
    6. Pentium II (350-400MHz) - 75°C
    7. Pentium M - 100°C
    8. Pentium Pro, 256 or 512K L2 cache - 85°C

Re: GeForce 9800GX2 110°C is it normal?

Here i have provided you the formula by which you can easily calculate the power usage of an overclocked CPU.
    Formula : Po = Ps * (Fo/Fs) * (Uo2/Us2)
    Where,
    • Fs is clock speed for non-overclocked CPU.
    • Fo is clock speed for overclocked CPU.
    • Ps is power usage for non-overclocked CPU.
    • Po is power usage for overclocked CPU.
    • Us is default voltage for non-overclocked CPU.
    • Uo is voltage at which the overclocked CPU runs.
