HL-DT-St Gsa-560L DVD drive of HP desktop is not detecting any DVD

I am having the HP desktop computer system which has the Windows Vista operating system. This desktop has the DVD drive which is shown as the HL-DT-St Gsa-560L in BIOS. The problem which i am facing with the desktop is that the HL-DT-St Gsa-560L DVD drive is not detecting any DVD inserted in it. So how can i resolve this issue of the HP desktop.

You have the HP desktop computer system which is loaded with the Windows Vista operating system and you are facing the problem with the HL-DT-St Gsa-560L DVD drive of this desktop. The DVD drive is not detecting any DVD inserted in the drive. As you are saying that this drive is detected by the BIOS and the operating system of the desktop. So this is some hardware problem and not the software.

As you have mentioned that the DVD drive is detected by the BIOS of the HP computer system. So i think may be the problem with the software which you are using for playing the DVD on your computer system. So i will recommend you to again reinstall the software in your desktop computer. May be this can resolve the issue.

I think this is the issue of the DVD drive of the HP desktop. May be the lens of the HL-DT-St Gsa-560L DVD drive is not working properly or may be some dust is there on the lens of the DVD drive. So first clean the lens of the drive using the lens cleaning disc and after that try again. You will get the lens cleaning disc easily in the market. So get one and clean the lens properly.

If the DVD drive of your HP desktop is not detecting any DVDs after cleaning the lens of the drive also then i think the lens of the drive is totally damaged now. So i think its time to change the DVD drive of your desktop because it i think the DVD drive is not repairable. Or contact to HP service center if the desktop is under warranty period.
