Toshiba Laptop PSLC8E Problem

I have this laptop from a friend, problem nothing seems to work, power, charge and power on light are all illuminated and CPU fan spins as does CD drive open /close but no display and no display on external monitor socket, no HD activity.

Seems dead, can anyone help could it be duf CPU chip or is it for the dusbin, one other thing the machine seems to turn off when I press the on/off button for about 10 seconds.

Sorry if this is in wrong place as couldn't find machine problems heading.

As you have mentioned in your query that this laptop is working properly except that you are not able to see the display on the screen of the laptop as well as on the external monitor when you are connecting the monitor to this laptop. I think either the it is the graphic card problem with your laptop or there is some connection issue of the display cable of the laptop. I will advice you to contact to the Toshiba service center for resolving this issue.
