"You need to format the drive before you can use it"

Hey Guys, I'm in a trouble here:

I have an external 1Tb Barracuda HD with 2 partitions that I use to store my work files and projects in.

I left my pc doing defrag into all hardrives (internal and this barracuda) all night and then, in the morning when I tryed to open a file in the external HD, I just couldn't access the files and folders. I got the following message: You need to format the drive "J:" before you can use it.

The thing is: I can't format it because it's very, very, very important job files.
Both partitions are showing this message.
The internals harddrives are all ok. The issue occours only with the external hard drive.

Can any one help me?

Such a message is displayed only when the hard drive is formatted. But to get your data back try to install the hard disk on another computer and then try accessing your external hard drive to get your important files. Also run a safe mode scan on your computer using the updated version of your anti-virus. Hope this works.

First of all your external hard disk connected with other computer and then check that harddrive is working or not? and then if your hard disk not work then you can go through safe mode and try to get your data.
