You are having the desktop system and you are adding the new Hard drive to this computer system. You want to add the 500GB Samsung HD501LJ Hard drive to this computer system but the system is not detecting this hard drive. So first of all make sure that the hard drive is connected properly on the motherboard of the computer system. I will advice you to reconnect the hard drive on the motherboard of the computer. |

Make sure that you are connecting the Samsung HD501LJ Hard drive on the correct port of the motherboard of the desktop computer system. Try connecting the hard drive to all the available ports and see that it is detected or not. If not detected then it may possible that there is problem with the port of the motherboard. Contact to the computer engineer for resolving this issue.

I want to ask you that you are making new system with this hard drive by installing the operating system on this or the system is already having the operating system installed on the other system and you are adding the second hard drive to this computer system. If you are already having the OS in the system then start the computer in the safe mode and see that this samsung hard drive is detected or not. |

I will advise you to check that this Samsung HD501LJ Hard drive is detected in the BIOS of the computer system or not. So during the start-up go to the BIOS of the desktop by pressing Delete key (depends on the manufacturer) and see that this hard drive is detected there or not. If not then select the automatically detect the connected devices over there. Now most probably the hard drive will be detected if the issue is not related with the hardware of the system.

If all of the above suggested methods are not working and the system is not able to detect the Samsung HD501LJ Hard drive connected to the computer system then i think either the SATA cable of the hard drive is not working. You have to change it. Or may be the hard drive itself is faulty and not read by the desktop system. It is better to contact the computer engineer to know about this issue. |
