Need information on Samsung Spinpoint F3

    Hi,
I had purchased a Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB Hard drive recently. Before that I was using the same series of hard drive but a bit older F1 version. I am looking for the difference between the performance of this both drive. What this new F3 gives out in comparison to the older one. Does the same is available in higher capacity also. Thanks in advance.

It is the third generation arrived Spinpoint F, still more powerful, thanks to the presence of only two 500GB platters. Its power consumption and noise levels were also revised downward, to use even more comfortable. The hard drive is very comfortable in use and offers you a really smooth performance on data transfer and other works. It is a reliable drive.

Samsung has announced this new range of HDD SpinPoint F3 last year. After being used in the EcoGreen, trays of 500 GB now landed on these drives running at 7200 rpm. Now available in version 500 GB, 1TB SpinPoint F3 will land next month, but it is unclear whether Samsung will go beyond while SpinPoint F1 were a design feature in version 3 trays The 1TB Barracuda F3 will be available in 16 and 32 MB of cache.

You have not down one thing that Seagate has made the same choice with its Barracuda 7200.12 line, which remains stuck despite the To 500GB platters, while 7200.11 uses up to 4 trays of 375 GB to reaching the 1.5 GB Both by cons manufacturers offer higher capacity - 1.5 TB to 2 TB Samsung and Seagate to - through their lines and Barracuda EcoGreen LP at 5400 and 5900 rpm.

It is was a hard drive by samsung to give out a much better performance. Actually it was the new generation of 3.5 "hard drives, the SpinPoint F3. After the bestseller F1, equipped with 333 GB platters rotating at 7 200 rpm and F2, with trays of 500 GB to 5 400 rpm, the F3 offers a high density (500 GB per tray) and a speed of rotation high (7 200 rpm).

There is also a 1TB version of this hard drive is available. This drives are 30% faster than the F1, which would meet the practical limits of SATA 1.5 Gigabit / s (the disc is expected to reach about 140 Mb / s interface limited to 150 Mb / s in practice). The SpinPoint F3 feature of NCQ, 16 or 32 MB of cache and use an interface obviously SATA 3 gigabit / sec The price was not announced, but the F3 should come quickly replace F1 in the stalls, hoping for higher capacities (1.5 and 2TB) arrive quickly.
