| Problem CD/DVD drive & USB ports
Hello I am using Windows 7 since May and my laptop is an Acer TravelMate 5510. For 1 or 2 months maitenant, my reader doesn't want to read CD / DVD. Regarding my usb ports I can plug my mouse to recharge my laptop, but can not read the contents of a USB key or boot on a bootable USB key. My problem is that I can no longer format to install Windows 7 Again. thank you for helping me |

Hello, From what you describe, you seem to use the RC version of Windows 7 that Micosoft had been released Online a few months ago. Never forget that RC is not complete and successful version. So much so, that your version does not seem to have correctly recognized that the optical drive of your Acer laptop. In principle it is a combo CD/DVD/DVD RW (dual layer) / DVD-RAM & Not a BD ROM (Blue ray). No longer able to check (I already uninstalled Windows 7 RC), I suggest you try reinstalling either Windows Vista or Windows 7 may be present on the Acer website. |

Hello there, OK first, if you use a USB optical mouse and the light has come, your USB ports are definitley providing power and should therefore be effective. What exactly you are trying to plug into your USB port does not work? the rest or simply a specific device? |

In Windows 7, just enter the word device in the Start => Search programs and files box to be provided with a link which when clicked opens the Device Manager window. opening the DVD/CD-ROM drives category of devices, right-clicking on the make/model of the drive under that category, and then choosing Uninstall from the menu that presents itself. Rebooting the computer makes Windows reinstall the device drivers, which were somehow corrupted. |
