Xbox 360 : Power Supply light is red

    Hi,

So as described in the title, my Power Supply light of xbox 360 is red. The Xbox does not turn on and says no sound (no error message, noise, etc.) Sometimes it turns green. then the xbox it works perfectly and sometimes lights red. Then I have to switch off the xbox. This means that my power supply is now broken?

Check out the temperature and whether the plug is properly inserted. If everything is normal, then might be something have broken. So try calling Microsoft support team. And if its under warranty then try to replace it.

Re: Xbox 360 : Power Supply light is red

The light from the power supply at rest is orange, and when the console gets turned green. It does not ever turns red, but if this happens, it is certain that a fault in the console prevents the boot source that there are no major faults or fire hazard.

Nor can a failure of the power supply turns the light red, so I recommend you try the console with another power supply. But apparently that test and you've done, there is no doubt that the console is damaged. The console may have only hours of use, but if you have voltage fluctuation problems at home, that may have ruined.

Make sure the power is cool. The red light may mean that the power supply is too hot or overheated. Let the food a few hours in a cool well ventilated area. Turn the console interim, so that the diet has sufficient time to cool. Once power supply has cooled, the power light switches from red to orange and you can use the console back on. If the power light is still red after you have let the power unit in a cool well ventilated area, the power unit to be replaced.

Make sure the power cord directly into a working outlet and not connected to an extension cord, surge protector or power strip. If it does not work after you directly connected to a wall outlet, try a different wall outlet, ideally in another part of the house. Perform the following steps to correct the power supply problem:

    1. Disconnect the cord between the power supply and the connection to the Xbox 360 console.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
    3. Disconnect the power cord from the power supply.
    4. Connect the power cord into a working outlet.
    5. Then connect (with the console still disconnected) the power cord into the power supply.
