    5280 installation:Fatal error and MSI.dot4wrp

For the All-in-One 5280 printer, I am trying to install the software suite from the CD provided. I keep getting the "5280 installation:Fatal error and MSI.dot4wrp" error, at the same point during the installation. I am using the Windows XP as operating system. I even tried to install the updated drivers of the 5280 printer, but that doesn't helped me. Does anyone know how to solve this problem.?? Please help me soon..!!

The fatal error usually comes when the software is not installed properly. So try to uninstall the previous software that came along with the printer. Also uninstall the software of the other printer if you have installed it on your system. After uninstalling fully, then try to install the software again. Doing this will let your program of the printer work if there were any corrupted files of the printer setup. Also try Re-registering Windows installer using msiexec (msiexec /unregister then /regserver). Also disable any firewalls and other security products while installing the software for the printer. Many times Firewall creates the issues. So it will better to keep it disable while installing the software.

To make the software installation work, you need to first de-register and then re-register Windows Installer. Follow the steps to do this :
    1. Click Start and then click Run.
    2. Then in the open box type msiexec /unregister and then press the enter.
    3. Then again click the Start button and then click on the Run.
    4. Now you have to type msiexec /regserver into the Open box, and then press Enter.
After doing this you will able to install the software for your printer.

I was facing the similar problem which got fixed luckily. I don't know exactly which step fixed it, but here are the steps that I followed :
    • First I uninstalled the every HP programs that were existing.
    • Then I disabled everything at startup by going to the MSCONFIG.
    • Then I ran the cleaner and registry repair in CCleaner.
    • Then I restarted my system.
    • Downloaded the software necessary for my printer from the HP site.
    • When I tried to install, it successfully got installed on my system.
Everything is working good then after. I hope that doing these steps will also fix your problem.

You can also try this to solve the Error :
    • Press the Start Button, then click on Run
    • In the open box type cmd and then click OK.
    • Then type the following command line
      regsvr32 c:\windows\sysem32\atl.dll
    • After typing the command, press the enter.
Your atl.dll will get registered and the error will be fixed.

Many times the temporary internet files are the cause of this error. So try to delete the temporary internet files. You can do this by following the steps :
    • Click on the Windows Button.
    • Then select the Run command. In Run type %temp% and press the enter.
    • A window will come after pressing the enter, which will be having list temporary internet files on your computer.
    • Select all of the files and then delete them all.
