| SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 provides 6Gbps
A second wave of motherboards with Intel P55 enters the market, bringing with it compatibility with SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 but what that all new motherboard going to change what speed they are going provide and how soon i can get it ?? |

| Re: SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 provides 6Gbps
Here's a quick refresher on the theoretical bandwidths of SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 : * S-ATA 3 Gbps: 300 MB / s * S-ATA 6 Gbps: 600 MB / s * USB "Hi-Speed" 2.0: 60 MBps * USB "Super Speed" 3.0: 600 MB / s Marvell S-ATA 6 Gbps As can be seen at this level, the figures are quite tempting. Of course, in practice it is not possible to obtain results for two reasons. The first is that the theory is not practice and the impact of the protocol within the data exchange is not zero. |

| Re: SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 provides 6Gbps SerialATA 3.0 boasts, among the major innovations, to ensure a band theoretical 6Gbps, against 3Gbps current generation, the second. In real applications, the Serial ATA II may cause the transfer maximum rate on the channel to about 2.5 Gbps, corresponding to about 310MB to second. 3.0 for SATA are real order of about 5.5 Gbps, or almost 690MB per second. |

| Re: SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 provides 6Gbps
The wide availability of USB 3.0 are expected in 2010 but appear to adopt a USB 3.0 controller on these boards as something really useful. The pass bandwidth to 4.8 Gbit / s or 600MB / s theorists, against 480Mbit/so 60MB / s theoretical USB 2.0. which Is by specific reported as probable, considering the logic of management and protocol overhead, a real interface speed of 3.2 Gbit / s or 400MB / s. Yes is an important value, far exceeding even the most performance single disc on the market. |

Goodness of SerialATA 3.0 will be seen later when Solid State drives are available that can cross the threshold performance consists of the second generation Serial. It still an important feature if you plan to keep the system few years. |

| Re: SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 provides 6Gbps
Many companies that filled with joy, it is those who make controllers, because until native support these standards, it will essentially go through their products to have USB 3.0 connectors or S - ATA 6 Gbps. For now, only Marvell and NEC offer such products: for NEC PD720200 USB 3.0 and the generation and 88SE912X for Marvell and the S-ATA 6 Gbps. Both offer two ports for each of their connections, the Marvell chip is able to manage the RAID in software in its 88SE9128. Unfortunately for us both controllers have the same defect, they accept as input a single PCIe x1 line with the standard 2.0. |
