| Check that webcam as H/W is working.
Actually you have said that you have never used your webcam in your notebook. Because you have not discussed the problem properly so it would be bit difficult to solve your problem. But as you have bought this notebook few months ago then you should try using its warranty. By doing this you can confirm that your hardware (webcam) is in working condition. |

| Install webcam driver again.
I think you would not be having the proper driver installed on your laptop. This could be the reason behind not working of webcam. Because generally it does not happen that webcam gets defected. I would suggest you to install the latest driver for your webcam. You must be having the CD which came with your laptop. So you may use it to install the driver for webcam but before that uninstall the current driver completely. |

| Loose connection of webcam.
I think everything would be perfect with your HP Pavilion tx1000. But your webcam may not be working because of some loose connection from the hardware. As you said that you have never used it then it may happen that it has lost its connection in between such a long period. You would have call up some hardware specialist to check proper connections.

| Roll Back Driver button.
If you have the proper driver for your webcam then you must try some other solution like rolling back driver. For doing this just go to the device manager by entering Device Manager in the Windows Search box. Then get into USB Controllers and right click on the device regarded to the webcam. Select properties for that device and click on Roll Back Driver button. |

| USB Composite Device instead of USB controllers.
Here is the solution for the same kind of problem which i was having on my laptop. You may try to do it, It may solve your problem too. If your webcam is not there in device manager then try to have a look in USB controllers. Now right click on webcam and go for update driver. Click on the Browse my computer and select Let me pick from a list, And select "USB Composite Device" there and try using your webcam again. |
