Cannot open Files/Folders in Pen Drive

I came across this problem in my pen drive. When i try to open a file or folder in my pen drive it automatically opens My Computer. I checked the properties of the pen drive and it shows few bytes but the memory status shows the real status. I just don't know what to do. Is this a virus problem or some thing, because i do update my anti virus from time to time and i am using Avast. The pen drive is of 4GB and the Operating System I am using is Win XP. Please help me guys.

As you said that you are not able to access any of your files or folders to try this out. Connect your pen drive and when u see it in My computer, right click on it and then click on search. Now a search windows opens up, in that don't type anything in the file name text box and not in the word or phrase text box also, keep both of them blank. Now click on search and now you will get all the files present in your pen drive. Now you just have to select the important files and copy them in some folder on your hard drive. And once the copy in done, then Format the pen drive. And after formatting your pen drive should work fine.

It can happen that it is happening because of any virus, as you said before that My Computer opens up when you try to open the pen drive. This sounds fishy, and odd. Because such activities are normally done by a virus or a trojan. So try to scan your computer with an anti virus and that should surely help you out.
