Did you try to repair the connection? Did you try to shut everything down and power up again? If you reset the linksys router to factory defaults and your thinkpad t42 laptops were previously set with wireless security and passwords enabled. Your router at default may be without security enabled and this may be causing your conflict.

You can try to connect with Wireless Zero Configuation instead of Linksys software. Check TCP/IP properties, advanced button, Options tab, TCP/IP Filtering properties. Verify that Filtering, if Enabled, is set to Permit All for all ports/protocols, Apply, then turn off filtering. Set the wireless to Infrastructure only, uncheck the bit about automatically connecting to unpreferred networks.

If the operating system installed on your thinkpad t42 is Windows XP SP2 and you are getting error "limited or no connectivity" then you need to check the following settings : Start / Control Panel / Network Connections, then right-click on the connection and choose Properties and check the given setting for wireless network. Sometimes, a limited or no connectivity is caused by a problem on the network layer of Windows.

If Windows XP says your network adapter has limited or no connectivity, it could be due to several different problems, including a failed Internet connection, a misconfigured router, or a misconfigured network adapter. Check this Microsoft guide for more information : Troubleshooting network connection problems
