    Intel PRO/1000PM integrated NIC problem

Hello,I am facing a problem with an Intel PRO/1000 PM integrated NIC.I have a Supermicro X7SBE motherboard. The network card is not reporting its MAC address to Windows. It shows all zero's (00-00-00-00-00) and keeping the operating system without even DHCP or basic networking. If the server is booted with a Linux CentOS or other LiveCD,the NICs work fine and the NICs MAC address is visible,So i think it must be a software incompatibility issue.
How can I solve this? I am using Windows 2003 Server.

As your network cards are reporting there MAC addresses to Linux CentOS your EEPROM is not corrupted. There must be some IPMI(Intelligent Platform Management Interface) or other management tool which may be interfering. So if there are any network management tools installed try to uninstall them and check if the NIC's are reporting there MAC addresses.you can also try a plain version of Windows 2003 instead of Windows 2003 Server.

The Windows Server 2003 version does not come with any IPMI components or drivers that would interfere with the working of the network cards. Also the Supermicro motherboard you have mentioned only supports IPMI 2.0 Check to see if some IPMI driver is loaded or not and if they are loaded then uninstalling them would do the trick.

To see if there are any management tools installed on the system which may be interfering with the working of NIC's follow the steps below.
Start menu--Settings-- Control Panel--Add Remove Programs--Add/Remove Windows Components-- Management and Monitoring Tools.
Make sure the Management and Monitoring Tools tab is Unchecked.
hopefully this information will help you in solving the issue.
