How to turn off auto-click in Windows 7

I've recently got a new laptop with Windows 7 on it. My laptop auto clicks mouse button if pointer is left on an action box for over 2-3 seconds. I want to turn this feature off but I can't find it anywhere in the control panel under Mouse or anything to turn it off. Whenever I hover and/or pause my mouse over an icon or something click able it automatically clicks for me. I've searched online but there have been unable to find any solutions for it. How to turn off auto-click in Windows 7? Any one knows about it? Kindly help me out to get rid of the above issue. Thanks.

I have not heard of that feature but on both of my laptops, I turn off the ability to click with my finger on the touchpad. I use the buttons for all my clicking purposes. Most of those options are found in the mouse properties. You can turn that off in ImageCapture, it's in your Application Folder. Go into the Control Panel, Double Click on Automatic Updates, and uncheck the box that says "keep my computer up to date".

Go to your mouse and check your software and see if you have a auto click box checked there. Try going to control panel them click on the mouse logo them customize your mouse settings. Also try My Computer--> Tools--> Folder Options--> General tab--> Double Click to open an Item, Single click to select. You can also open Control Panel / Ease of Access Center / Make the mouse easier to use. Then try to remove the check mark from the "Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse'' option. Apply/OK.

Re: How to turn off auto-click in Windows 7

If the Windows 7 settings in the Ease of Access options doesn't turn this function off, the only other place where it could be coming from is the options for the Touchpad. Definitely check under the touch pad options, then turn off the tap to click/select option (it's probably that) it might be oversensitive, you might touch the pad differently than they intended. Either way it's giving you an undesired result. Check your manual for the location of the Touchpad options.
