| Windows 7 64 bit fail to install driver for USB storage device
I am running a new install of Windows 7 64 bit on my machine. I have two USB thumb drives, none of them could be correctly installed on my new Win 7 (64bit) system. As they used to work fine on my Windows Vista as well as on Windows XP. It can't detect the driver when I specify the directory it exists in. It used to work well on Windows XP as well as on Windows Vista, but it fails to install the same driver on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. Why does my Windows 7 64 bit fail to install driver for USB storage device? Any idea about it? Please provide me the correct solution for the above issue. Thanks. |

Have tried to install the Chipset driver? I think that motherboard should support USB Boot feature to make use of the bootable USB drive. If not, please install it refer to the Installation instructions first. The issues you describe are not common among testers. Most of the time when these issues occur they relate to the media or a corrupt download. It could be something with the DVD player or media you are using. |

Configure the USB to emulate HDD, (in some BIOS known as Flash Drive or something similar). These kind of driver issues are just what sank Vista when it was released. I continue to be disappointed with how Win7 RC1 won't work out of the box. Rather than the DVD, make the BIOS to boot from USB drive. Of course, your USB drive should be large enough to accommodate what's on the DVD disc but a Flash memory with size comparable to standard DVD capacity is really cheap. You should also know your way around to make it bootable. |

Perhaps the device is corrupting to the extent it is not recognized 'properly'. Properly meaning not showing up in My Computer. Try changing the SATA setting in bios to PATA compatability mode for the instalation. There have been some issues when trying to boot from SATA DVDRoms. You need to download and install the RAID-driver for your system. Also, after setting the mode to RAID in the System BIOS, you need to create a RAID-array using the RAID BIOS setup utility, which advertises itself after the System BIOS with something like "Press Control+F to enter RAID Setup!" just before you see the Windows loading screen. |
