| New pc for 3d rendering
My PC is slowly dying, and if I want to continue my studies, I have to reinvest in more quickly. So, the purpose of the maneuver is to start on something very sturdy, the lowest possible price. Usage: 95% of 3d rendering. For 3D, I have absolute priority: an excellent processor, a lot of ram and a good hard drive. (My processor is a CORE i7, that sounds pretty good.) No real budget I need for classes, I have no choice. I have the screen, mouse; I just need the tower (motherboard, processor, ram, hard drive....) Strictly speaking, I can still keep my 8800 GTS pci-e one more time if we just stay in the budget. Can you advise me a good computer? |

I advise you this: -Motherboard: 1x ASUS P7P55D -Processor: 1x Intel Core i7 860 -FAN: 1x Noctua NH-U12P -Memory: 2x G. Skill NQ DDR3-1600 CL9 4GB (2x2GB) -Hard Drive: 1x Western Digital 1TB S-ATA II 32Mo (Caviar Black) -DVD-Burner: 1x Sata Pioneer or Sony / NEC Optiarc -Case + Power supply: 1x Antec Sonata III 500W -Graphic Card: keep your 8800GTS, it is still in the game, and above all it will cost you nothing (Medium Config with double the memory, more processor to High) To this we must add the OS (preferably 64bit). |

Thank you for your reply. For the DVD recorder, I can save because I have one. 500W for such config, isn't that a little lighter power supply? What is your opinion? |

| Re: New pc for 3d rendering
For the configuration that I suggested, you require max of 300W with CPU + GPU loaded and so it is enough. At max you will be at 60% capacity of the power supply. If you consider overclocking pushed (4 GHz) and adding a second graphics card, it actually becomes too tight. |

I have no intention of any kind of overclocking. So it seems pretty good built according to you. One last question just in case you did not know where it's more best to order? thank you! |

| Re: New pc for 3d rendering
If you're a student, you can be benefited from Windows 7. You will just need a valid email address, provided by your institution. There is a 64-bit version available at the same rate as the 32bit version. Otherwise, the proposed config goes well. Strictly speaking, you can save a little on the HDD by taking a 1TB Caviar Green instead of the Caviar Black or a WD Caviar SE16 640 GB. |
