Acer aspire 5720g very slow to start up

I recently got Acer Aspire 5720G laptop and i have installed windows xp. The problem when i start my laptop it takes 5 to 10 minutes to startup. I have deleted all the junk files and viruses form laptop but still it is slow. What has happened and what is the solution?Can anyone help!!!

You probably have too many things starting up when you turn it on acer aspire 5720g. Click on start, click on run, and type in msconfig, then click ok, then go to start up, disable things that you do not need at start up, like nero, adobe reader, your printer, click ok at the bottom when done.

There is a program called bootvis which will run and tells you how long each application and driver takes to load up so you can see which is takeing the time. I have used it a few times and it comes in rather handy in these sort of problems. Alos Check the Event Viewer to see if there are any errors on start up (Start-> control panel->Administrative Tools->event viewer).

To solve the problem clean out your registry, you will need to get cleaner software to do a scan and fix. System restore will not speed up your system. It's main purpose is to revert the registry to a time prior to an event that may have caused instability on your computer.
