Problem hard drive passing in AHCI

I spent my 2 IDE drives in AHCI by modifying the registry (3 instead of 0 to set the generic drivers), reboot and install the Intel Matrix Storage. It works and I can see and access my 2 discs. Here is a problem, I can not format my backup HDD + when I run the backup procedure, Windows 7 disk no longer exists in the list of backup peripherals or backup failure but I can add or delete files on the hard drive. This disk should be 2 or 3 years old so is it would not support the AHCI?

The AHCI is not a software change, it's hardware related issue. This configuration must be done in the bios and it must support. By causing the manipulation you did quite normal for disk disconnected.

I understood but I moved to AHCI in the Bios to reboot and my 2 drives are recognized in the bios in AHCI. Just for your information: I reinstalled Windows 7 properly but my problem still continues. Do I have to make some kind of changes in the bios other than what I have done?

I think you're playing with fire by causing such manipulation. Return in the bios and change to IDE mode, see if your hdd disconnects yet.

If you have settled the hdd, in the bios, in AHCI mode and you have to reinstall Windows 7 it should have no problems: it was the right way to proceed

To enable AHCI mode:

1. Go to Start, Run and type regedit and click on OK.
2. Windows Registry Editor opens up. Look for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
3. Right-click on Start, and select Modify.
4. In the Value box, type 0, and then click OK to save the changes.
5. Close Registry Editor
