| Problem hard drive passing in AHCI
I spent my 2 IDE drives in AHCI by modifying the registry (3 instead of 0 to set the generic drivers), reboot and install the Intel Matrix Storage. It works and I can see and access my 2 discs. Here is a problem, I can not format my backup HDD + when I run the backup procedure, Windows 7 disk no longer exists in the list of backup peripherals or backup failure but I can add or delete files on the hard drive. This disk should be 2 or 3 years old so is it would not support the AHCI? |

The AHCI is not a software change, it's hardware related issue. This configuration must be done in the bios and it must support. By causing the manipulation you did quite normal for disk disconnected. |

I understood but I moved to AHCI in the Bios to reboot and my 2 drives are recognized in the bios in AHCI. Just for your information: I reinstalled Windows 7 properly but my problem still continues. Do I have to make some kind of changes in the bios other than what I have done? |

I think you're playing with fire by causing such manipulation. Return in the bios and change to IDE mode, see if your hdd disconnects yet. Quote:

To enable AHCI mode: 1. Go to Start, Run and type regedit and click on OK. 2. Windows Registry Editor opens up. Look for: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci 3. Right-click on Start, and select Modify. 4. In the Value box, type 0, and then click OK to save the changes. 5. Close Registry Editor |
