Got a JBL m115-8a

Hi everyone,
I just got a new JBL m115-8a, last week I had ordered them. They are right in front of me now. I did not get much time to get information or research on them before buying. What is yours general opinion on them. I use Peavey DTH SF2, so I will be mostly using them with Peavey DTH SF2 ( mid/tops xoverd @ 100hz). I will use my PV CS1200x to power the JBL's (900watt per side @ 4ohms). i like to listen rock bands, so I will put them at 200-300 capacity venues. So, I hope that the JBL m115-8a will work perfectly on them. Guys I need your opinion so that I can get the best quality of music to listen.

Re: Got a JBL m115-8a

Hi
You mentioned that you will use the JBL with PV CS1200x to power it (900watt per side @ 4ohms). If you are using these, you have a good news. The CS1200x is 900 per channel @ 2ohms. 600 -650 at 4. Means you will get a clear music to listen. Did you bought the dual 15" bandpass box? If it is so, then should add a little thump to a 100-200 person room. I think you are pushing them with too much power. Adding 200-300 watts/box might only give you another db or 2. Hope my suggestion will help you. If you have any more problems or need any more information then do ask.

Re: Got a JBL m115-8a

Hello
Even I had the same kind of speakers of JBL. They are really good speakers and the output is really nice, that is the quality of the sound. I had used them with two frames one of JBL M115-8 and the other of M115-8a per cabinet, both are almost identical frames. But the real factor lies in the back of the magnet, the pole pieces have a conical indentation in the center of the pole piece, they are 1.5" in diameter and .5" in depth, and has a 2.5" voice coil diameter. Use the speakers with two cabinets, you will get much good quality of sound. Just enjoy listing music.

Re: Got a JBL m115-8a

Hi
The JBL speakers which you bought use 2 x JBL M115-8a drivers. If you want more information about the drivers you can visit the JBL official site, you will get the full information about the drivers. I think that the boxes are 4ohms each and the pv cs1200x will sent round 650watt at 4ohms, so this should be a bit closer. Bu they sound good to me. They will not disappoint you. If the venues are 300 person capacity, think that's a bigger room than many think. But you do need more support for rock. But for the normal music they are fine.
