    Core i7/i5 1156 socket problem

I'm looking to build a new PC, to be used for gaming. It will need to last say for at least 3 or 4 years before I upgrade the motherboard or CPU. I would like to know that is LGA775 HSF compatible with LGA1156? I want to get a aftermarket cooler for 1156 socket, but i'm not able to get it. So, can any one tell me that how to i resolve my Core i7/i5 1156 socket problem? Any one knows about it? Kindly help me out.

Socket 1156 heatsinks mount to the motherboard directly, either with the aid of a metal rear support plate or push pin clips that grab onto the motherboard. The differences in I3, I5, and I7 are clear, so it makes logical sense to allow them all on the same socket. Of course the absolute top models of I7 will probably be LGA-1366 only.

According to me, i don't think its compatible. There are very few boards that don't use the Foxconn sockets, and it's going to create a terrible strain on LOTES and Tyco/AMP to manufacture enough to replace them. These problems are the cause of a single component and are repeatable.

Re: Core i7/i5 1156 socket problem

The aftermarket heatsinks could possibly be an issue, because most of them are for 775/1366/1156 and use different adapters for the different sockets the hole spacings are not the same between the 3 different sockets. The only known alternative sockets in the wild are made by LOTES or Tyco AMP. We happen to have a couple of boards from EVGA using the LOTES/Tyco AMP sockets and MSI/DFI using the LOTES socket design, and thus far those boards have been issue free given highly similar operating conditions.
