Tips for the replacement of my late 8800 Ultra

As indicated, my 8800 Ultra is about to go and I need to replace it. I've seen since purchasing my graphics card a lot of others were out with time (over 2 years ago) and they look pretty. The problem is that if I bought a relatively new it will find itself limited by my CPU (E6850). The motherboard is a GA-P35-DS4.

Here I ask your help on what graphics card should be best for me and that is "almost" as well as the Ultra? This is mainly for games and software use like Photoshop, Illustrator.

You want a good graphics card or a similar graphics card as of your dead 8800 Ultra?

    ati: in the first case a HD5850 in the 2nd case ... a HD5770?

ATI if you refuse for reasons of the core

    nvidia: In the first case a GTX275 in the 2nd case ... a GTS250?

Thank you for your reply. It's first. I just take a look at graphics cards do you suggest it seems to be pretty. I am pro-nVidia actually. I lack the means. 7-8k correspond more to me actually. Among GTS250 or GTX260 which are good?

Look for the GTX260+. You will find the GTX 260+ for 8k. It is very good. The power performance is a lot better in the GTX260+. If you want to overclock, plain and simple; this is the best option. Regarding the GTS, it would be the same as what you had before (the 8800); whereas the GTX260 is a kind of 9800GT. Even HD4850 is better than the 2 you have mentioned since it is direct x11 compatible.

Ok. I still remember the first use of DX10 games in Supreme Commander or Crysis. So do you think is it important to take into account or not the fact that the graphics card is DX11 compatible?

But good if you assure me that the HD4870 is better than 260 and less expensive so I will not do the jump and I will look at it then.
