The OCZ SSD Slate Series comes in the form of a card measuring 75 x 34 x 5 mm. It operates the interface ExpressCard/34 found mainly on laptops. With the updated MacBook Pro in June last, the OCZ SSD Slate has become almost obsolete as all new models have left the ExpressCard slot in favor of a card reader-SD with the exception of the MacBook Pro 17-inch retains the ExpressCard slot
On the Edge the SSD Slate Series has an activity LED blue and a mini USB port that connects the USB device on a computer does not have an ExpressCard slot. The contents of the packaging is relatively limited since it is limited to the OCZ SSD Slate and a Mini USB to USB. On a 15-inch MacBook Pro Unibody, the OCZ Slate Series does not exceed the laptop and is completely integrated. It will therefore remain in the MacBook during transportation.
The performance of the OCZ Slate Series SSD ExpressCard remain its main shortcoming. With a throughput of 20MB / s write and 35MB / s read, it is very far from what may propose such a DSS. These performances are closer to those of a good USB drive
The OCZ SSD Slate has trouble finding its place. Too big to replace a USB drive and much less effective than SSD, its usefulness remains to be demonstrated. The only interest is a permanent backup of a specific folder using a program like Twin on laptop. With a price below 100 euros, the OCZ SSD Slate Series 32GB can fit for some MacBook Pro owners.
