Got a dell inspiron1520 laptop, original disk lost, so have new vista disk, problem is it all installs great, but will not boot up, have formatted the drive, twice, but no good. Also when i look for drivers to install it says that there is a " Boot (X drive, that doesnt seem to delete on format that seems to have the old vista files on, how do i get rid or do i buy a new laptop hard drive. You can turn off AHCI (in CMOS) before the install. Then after Vista is installed you can turn it back on and install the SATA drivers for Vista (from your Dell Support Page) As far are the power button thing goes, I believe you need to set that up so vista knows what its supposed to do when that is pressed. Above everything, make sure you've got all of your drivers ready to go prior to doing a system reinstall.
