    Computer freezes after hardware detection

I have a very old pc which is running Windows XP Service pack 1 that I just took out from my closet which was kept for years. As soon as I try to start it, it wont load the OS and if I try to boot it then it will detect all the hardwares but soon after that it freezes and wont load the OS. I even try to reformat it but after hardware detection it will give me the same result. Can anyone tell me how should i start this pc? Thanks

Firstly the most prior thing is what happened to it means were their any virus or spyware or adware protection used in the first place? What is the make or model of your computer and how old is it? If you can give us the proper specification of your pc then we might diagnose something more.

What you can do is first check whether the cmos battery has died and if so then remove it to clear BIOS for 15 minutes or change it perhaps and the reseat it. You can also remove and reseat all cards, wires and rams. Try to use a PS/2 keyboard and a mouse for this drill. Remember that windows wont fix bad hardware.

Have you considered doing a Windows repair reinstall after changing the Cmos battery? Thier might be often Windows won't boot at all otherwise. You can try a new motherboard that should be very similar and it may boot and check whether its your mobo or some other hardwares.
