    Iomega HDD not detected

I bought a portable hard drive Iomega Prestige 320GB a few days ago and when I plug it is not recognized by my PC (under XP with USB port 1).

I searched for drivers to download but I found nothing. I followed the procedure: right click My Computer, Manage, Disk Management but it does not appear.

    What to do?

Since it is a USB 2 hard drive and my PC is only USB 1, the problem can be due to that?

    Re: Iomega HDD not detected

Try it on a PC with USB 2.0 port. No problem with other USB devices (HDD, pen drive)? Nothing unusual in the device manager? XP SP1, 2, 3?

At first I would say voltage and/or intensity weakness on the USB ports. It happened on several phones (with USB2) and several 2.5 disks but they were delivered with a double USB cable, so no problem ...

    Windows PC configuration required:
    • Pentium II or faster
    • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional/XP Home/XP Professional/XP Professional x64/Windows Vista (all versions)
    • Connect USB 2.0 interface (If a USB 2.0 controller card is used, must meet the requirements for card)
      ...

Thank you for your prompt response.

So I'll give you my config: XP Pro SP3, USB 1, AMD Duron 801 MHz processor, 256 MB Ram

No crystallized in the device manager. In fact I have a double USB cable but I have only 2 USB ports including 1 taken by my mouse!

    Any idea?

You must have an old PC that does not supply enough power on a single USB port. Connect your mouse PS2 (if you have an adapter) and connect two of your USB HDD. If you have the option, use a powered USB HUB.
