iMac: Keyboard and Mouse not responding

    Hi,

When I turned on my iMac G5, it all started well, and the home screen appeared, everything was fine until the login screen showed me the username and I had to write the password.when trying to use the mouse pad to reach the password field, the mouse pad is not responding. I restart and eventually the problem returns. I've checked the USB ports, and restarted.

The keyboard and mouse, or could be dead. or USB port may be not working. Try the following things :
1] Turn off computer and all devices.
    2]Disconnect the keyboard and mouse.
3]Connect the mouse and keyboard into different USB ports, reboot and test.
    4]Try booting.

I had the same problem with my Keyboard and Mouse. Everything was working fine, I close my Macbook, , booted up, and the keyboard and mouse not responding (including Bluetooth and USB).

I was able to boot into safe mode (holding down the shift right after the tone), which led me to believe that it was a software problem, not a hardware problem.

But before booting your pc, take a backup copy of the latest image on the Time Machine.

Make sure the problem is not caused by a software conflict or damaged software, which usually affects both the keyboard and mouse, and often intermittently. Note, however, that if the power button on the keyboard can not be used to start the iMac, the problem is not with the software.

The software issues can be ruled out in dealing with these basic troubleshooting steps such as start-up with extensions off or starting the computer from the CD system, but note that none of these steps may be possible if there is a problem hardware or device or the USB port.
