Laptop keyboard don't respond

Hi,

I reinstalled Windows XP in my Compaq CQ60 Laptop, During boot, there is no response to the keyboard, i.e. F2, F9, etc don't work and the mouse buttons brings up Properties window instead of opening, right click brings up options menu for a fraction of a second then it disappears. Any suggestion as how to solve this problem?

Does this mean system have a touchpad? I saw one where the touchpad/keyboard bezel had to be replaced. If you can plug an external keyboard in, it shall act equal to or better? As the external keyboard works better, I would suspect a poor keyboard.

I have the same problem, I updated my geforce and nforce-chipset drivers on windows XP SP2 32bit and resumed. After restarting windows I could get no response from my mouse or keyboard. "I was trying different combinations of input, Ps/2 and connections, unplugging peripheral and use all connections only Ps/2 or only the connections keyboard. What may be the issue ??

Try pressing key CTRL + Alt + del while you are running in normal mode. Thenclick on the processes TAB and try and specify the process that is using much CPU time. Anything other than idle should be very low values such as the computer is just sitting there. Heading back your results and hopefully we can arrive at a number of ideas.
