Supposed is the right word, because many of the Time Capsule user complains sudden and unpredictable Time Capsule failure. Most models offending dating from early 2008 and the failures started to appear since June 2009.

It seems that the problem comes from the internal power impossible to replace. And as the Time Capsule open to extract the hard disk and then recover the lost data security, the anger begins to rise.

It is the power supply system that appears to the source of these evils as the Time Capsule does not turn on. Some have even designated as chemical makers two capacitors that are slightly distorted, indicating a power surge or excess temperature. One user said to have replaced his Capsule restart normally. This problem is not unusual in itself but it usually occurs after a long period of use, the order of several years.
