    USB Ports Not Functioning

    Hi,

I had several devices attached to usb ports, including an external hard drive, a mobile, and a printer. But now when I try to install a printer and a wireless phone but my USB does not function and therefore the installation fails. "hardware not recognized" box appears on the taskbar. What should I do ??? I have a windows xp machine.

Most likely a problem with the motherboard, but you can try to reinstall the windows, best bet for getting all the work is to turn off the CPU, disconnect the power cord, and all USB devices, let it sit for about 10 minutes. Plug It All Back in Turn on the CPU! Although this could really get the nerves to have to do this several times, its ideal to get a new motherboard.

To eradicate the problem, follow these steps

    1. Go to Device Manager and remove all USB hub (shelters and drivers),

    2. Start up with any USB device connected. Then let Windows reinstall the USB host controller and hubs and reinstall the devices.

Please reply and let us know if the problem is resolved or if you need more help

Maybe the contacts of the USB connectors are not properly inserted, which no doubt would like your USB is not working.

Try a known good USB cable. Try updating the software. Are the printer and mobile phone compatible with your software? Have you installed the new updates to your operating system? Can you try to install the printer and the mobile phone to another computer?
