Cannot access BIOS to boot from CD

I recently formatted my Hitachi 160 gb hard drive and re-installed XP. The problem is my pc then kept freezing then i try to reformat my drive but booting from CD does not allow me to move further and i cannot get into the BIOS. Does anyone know what causes this issue and how to fix it?Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Have you tried pressing the correct "F" key immediately after startup? Possibly your motherboard doesn't support boot from cd, look in bios for boot sequence, There could be a security setting that disables booting off certain devices.

Is the CDROM jumpered correctly? Make sure your CD is bootable. If it didn't solve the problem Try resetting the BIOS by disconnecting the PC from the mains, set the jumper (as per manual) or take the battery our for a few minutes. You should also try a more powerful PSU.

Have you tried your BIOS settings, are you absolutely sure that you have the boot order correct? Such that the CDROM will boot before your hard drive.Try pressing and holding the del key before/when you hit reset or restart and keep holding and You can also try this > remove the cmos battery for ten minutes and see if the bios resets to default.
