Does my power works properly?

Hello friends,

I would like to know how I can test to see if the power supply is working precisely? Can anyone suggest a good tester?. like to know how I can test to see if the power supply is working precisely? Can anyone suggest a good tester?.The machine powers up but doesn't do anything. No keyboard, monitor or peripherals are seems to be working. The machine has lights and fans running but that's it. I swapped out the hard drive with one of mine and still the same thing exists.I'm guessing it's the power supply but I don't need to keep the customer waiting a few days until I order a tester.....Help!waiting a few days until I order a tester....I guess you can help me

thank you

I know there are some hardware PSU testers ... a lot you can get at Xoxide.com ... there's one created by Cool max and another by UltraX. Each of them test most if not all of the lines coming out of the lines coming out of the computer power supply. Very handy to have in your computer toolbox.

You really should alter the power supply if you haven't already, 70% of Emachine motherboard failures are caused by the power supplies that they have in them, the Bestec brand.May be you can use a multimeter something like for testing the power supply

Re: Does my power works properly?

I have come across the same problem while fixing numerous other computers. It could be a number of things though a power supply would have been easy to replace.Reduce the power button for starters; remove its connector from the mother board, then short the two mother board switch pins and see if your machine will start. With home builds, this is a usual thing to go. If the computer starts up, your power button is wrong.
