Some flash drives have a hardware lock (usually a switch on the drive) you can also software lock the drive in windows. You approach your pen drive technical support center with all details of your drive.you ask them for secure traveler utility for your pen drive. You must format your pen drive using secure traveler utility to make your pen drive fine...

Some flash drives have a little write protect switch on them.Confirm you haven't accidentally moved it to the write-protected position.else it could be a stupid little trojan horse virus which locked out your flash drive. You need to format it to get rid of the virus and be able to use it again.Have you scanned it with your anti virus and anti spyware?

Which is your flash drive ?.Does it have a write protect switch on the drive?.Does you use any bundled software that came with the drive, or that you downloaded such as Microsoft USB Flash Drive Manager ?.If it comes with some kind of software when you bought it, run the software and login

I don't know what these guys are talking about, but...

    For Windows 7:

    1. Click on My Computer.
    2. Right-click on your USB Device to bring up the context menu.
    3. Click on Properties.
    4. Click on Change Settings (you'll be prompted for elevating priviledges)
    5. Click on Policies.
    6. Unclick the default Quick Removal setting (disables write caching for device protection if it's disconnected suddenly).

Whoops seems like things aren't ever that simple in Windows.

That was only half the job, low-level formatting it now. I'm sure it's another one of those 'unexplainables'. But as long as there's a 'workaround' right?

This industry loves workarounds. For unexplainables and unknowns.
