Hp Pavillion dv5139us usb ports not working

I have HP Pavilion dv5139us laptop. My USB ports will not recognize anything that is plugged into them. I have even uninstalled and re-installed my drivers, but it still not working for me. Can any body tell me that why doesn't my HP Pavilion dv5139us laptop usb ports works? Any idea on this issue. Kindly help me to resolve the problem.

Your USB drivers are part of the chipset on your PC. Windows should automatically go through several of its "Discovered New Hardware" routines and re-setup all of the USB devices for you.

Installing a PCI USB port adapter card will give you replacement ports. Some sort of power spike must have gone through my USB drives because the laptop cooling pad and mouse do not work on another computer, but devices that were not hooked up before the problem happened work.

I believe the ports are not putting out near the max voltage that it should. Check your Notebook manual. An unpowered USB hub will stress your southbridge chip by drawing too much current ( in milliamps) and you will eventually lose more or all USB ports. Or you can also visit the Hp website, there you will get the exact information about your Hp Pavillion dv5139us usb ports.
