Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop bios update must have battery adapter plugged in

I have a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop. My Dell Inspiron 1100 is not charging its battery. I'm trying to update BIOS on my Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, but it gives out an error message stating that inspiron 1100 bios update must have battery adapter plugged in. I have replaced the AC adapter, and reflowed the AC adapter connector on the mother board. I'm still facing the same issue. Why does my Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop bios update must have battery adapter plugged in? How do i resolve the above problem? Kindly help me.

First remove all peripherals including USB devices. Can you get to the BIOS? It is possible that the motherboard has developed problems, but you must try another AC adapter first. An AC Adapter is much cheaper than a motherboard.

Another problem, though, with the Inspiron 1100, is that the power jack into which you insert the power adapter plug has had a tendency to break loose from the system board and is very difficult to re-attach. I have had a problem identical to this with my Inspiron 1150. You need a highly skilled tech who knows cold solder, and flat solder techniques. For several days I've been unable to get it to boot also the charging light doesn't come on when plugged in to AC power.Otherwise, a inexperienced tech can result in your need to replace the board.

Sounds like there is a problem with the motherboard if the ac adapter isn't
being recognized. Try tapping on the case of your computer between the blue buttons used for mouse clicks and the edge of the case near the three led lights. I think this might be the issue, there certainly is some movement of the accepting plug inside it's housing when the cable is plugged in.
