Dell Dimension 8300 blinking amber power light

I'm having a Dell Dimension 8300 laptop on which i had installed Windows xp as my operating system. It used to work fine until the last night when i tried to turn it back, i came to know that the dell amber keeps on blinking the power light. I don't know but t suddenly started to give me such problem. Can any body tell me that why does dell keeps on blinking the amber power light? Does any body have any idea about this issue? kindly help me out to get rid of the above issue. Any kind of help on the above issue would be appreciated.

It might be the power supply. If you have a Dell Dimension and experience the dreaded orange flashing light, there are normally ways to verify what is causing it to occur. If it's not a power supply then the next obvious item is the motherboard (if it's a BIOS problem it's a motherboard problem).

I would think the batteries need replacing. That happened to my Dell Latitude CPI. You need to ensure that the voltage selection switch is set to match the AC power at your location (if applicable).Also you need to ensure that the processor power cable is securely connected to the system board.

In your case, it was a power surge that burned your power supply or motherboard. If the right light is always flashing amber (even when you have charged the PC for 3-4 hours) it probably indicates that the battery is failing.According to me the best to get rid of the above issue is to take your Dell Dimension 8300 to the near by Dell service center.
